2018 output of pollock Vietnam may increase 6 times

Mr. Andrey Teterkin, CEO of Russia Seafood Corporation (RFC), DN keeping pollock quotas largest Russian said that in the next few years Vietnam will soon replace China in its role as a processing center whitefish.

According to Andrey Teterkin, 2018 Vietnam will process 60,000 tonnes of pollock were headless and intestines (H & G), up from 10,000 tons in 2015. Thus, the 2016 production would have reached 25,000 tonnes, while RFC is a joint venture with Hung Vuong joint Stock company and Vietnam pangasius company. And certainly in 2017 output will increase to 40,000 tons. By 2018, RFC and Hung Vuong Joint Stock Company processed 40,000 tonnes estimated pollock. The products include double block frozen and quick frozen fillets, leaving the plants are then fisheries consortium of Spanish Mascato sale. The figure of 60,000 tonnes in 2018, higher than the target of 20,000 tonnes of RFC is expected to increase output. He also expects many processing plants pollock more being built in Russia, because of lower labor costs, raw material sources and support the government.

The DN processing plant construction in Russia will be granted 5% Russian government total production quota allowed catches (TAC) and fishing vessels in Russia are granted new 15% TAC.

According Teterkin, Russian Parliament has amended the law and hope, to 2018, will also have a processing center in the Russian Far East, as well as processing of pollock in Vietnam is higher than China . When the Russian mining companies consider the navigation processing facilities outside China, they will produce more fish fillets and whole fish and lower H & G. The weakness in the fish processing industry H & G China will gradually give the opportunity for Vietnam and will divert more production of fish fillets.

Espersen turned to Vietnam

His view is similar to Teterkin Klaus Nielsen, CEO of A. Espersen, white meat processing corporation Denmark. Espersen has stopped processing in China and transfer the cod production to Asia and Vietnam.

Mr. Nielsen said, the major brands in the US and the UK are looking for partner processing, rather than build its own plant. Some brands are not assured of processing in China and are looking to Vietnam. The plan was made in 2016, will produce around 10,000 tonnes of cod in Vietnam, because demand is rising again. Costs in China will continue to grow faster than Vietnam, because of changes in the economy. China is adjusted higher wages for workers, while Vietnam is probably 10 years China will be the same. Currently, Vietnam is like a machining center for the world.

In the future, Vietnam will have a good position in their trade links. Vietnam has signed free trade agreements (FTA) with the EU; has close relations with Russia; and joined the Trans-Pacific partnership (TPP). This accession will bring major benefits for Vietnam.

For the Russian market, Vietnam enterprises have the advantage thanks to free trade agreements between the countries of Southeast Asia and Economic Union Eurasian (EEU).

Between 2015, Vietnam signed an FTA with the EEU, Vietnam to help businesses with the opportunity to reach consumer markets of 5 countries (including Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan), with 181 million people, the size of GDP 2,000 billion, to promote trade and economic integration.

TPP was signed on 02.04.2016, the fisheries sector is considered one of the strengths of Vietnam.
